Why do We Fond of Ice Cream?
It is rather hard to answer this question unambiguously. On the one hand, ice cream — is a bright and pleasant memory that brings the festive mood to us. On the other hand, this pleasure can be bought at almost every corner and you may feel yourself a careless kid again.
The scientists have explored why, tasting the pure natural ice cream, we feel cognizable burst of happiness.
It turned out that butter, cream and milk, which compose an ice cream, contain tryptophan — very effective natural tranquilizer that cheers up and has sedative action on nervous system. Tryptophan — is an irreplaceable amino acid, which is used by brain along with vitamin B6, niacin (or niacinamid) and magnesium to produce serotonin — neuromediator — that transmits signals between brain and one of biochemical mechanisms of sleep in organism. Advantage: it helps to stimulate normal sleep; decreases pain sensitivity; acts as a natural antidepressant; helps to reduce anxiety and stress; reduce some symptoms of biochemical disorders in organism, including those that are related to alcohol taking.
Besides, nothing spurts but ice cream that contains glucose, nuts and chocolate. As for the waffles and biscuits, which are frequently used to produce ice cream, they give additional portion of calcium, glucose, vitamins A, B, C, and D, which are essential for the organism, especially the growing one. Kids need lots of energy for play, therefore you will not find better energy source except this one! Probably, this very fact gives an ice cream thousands-year history. Even ancient Romans had been savoring whisked cool milk with various additive compounds during their feasts. In Ancient China ice cream was also known. As for the splendid meals of Arab rulers, ice cream headed the list.
Since its origin, ice cream has drastically changed. Surely, multitude of new kinds appeared that differ with taste, form, color. Four hundred years ago chocolate was added to ice cream for the first time — and today it can be hardly imagined something else that ideally fits each other (well, perhaps, champagne and strawberry, lard and onion).
We can spend lots of time, discussing ice cream advantages. But, let us pay close attention at one, important one. Ice cream is a great alternative to cakes and pastry. What kind of celebration it could be without a cake? Exactly cake makes a served table beautiful and festive. This is the very moment to remind an alternative — ice cream cake! We will remind for those, who keep to a diet and count calories, that ice cream diet is lovely kept by famous Madonna. Consequently, if you do not consume it in kilos, your body will not suffer, but, quite the contrary, will be slenderer. In fact, one ice cream portion contains half of daily norm of minerals and amino acids, and one piece of cake has calorie content of about 100 Kcal, which is four times less that cake calorie content.
And some words about national peculiarities of ice cream savoring. Our people differ by their simplicity — do not take taxi to bakery, and ice cream consume ‘non stop’. Anyway, it is a product of impulse demand — came, took, consumed, run. For foreigners, ice cream — is a dessert. They come to cafй, dine out, then ordere ice cream and little by little enjoy its taste. We also are approaching this tactic. But gradually and very slowly. Ice cream sellers state that ‘family’ ice cream consumption is growing, and this fact proves that people get used to eat ice cream at home. Therefore, when solodkolid (from Bulgarian ‘ice cream’) will be a home dessert, Ukrainian producers will compensate sales slump in winter and will be able to alleviate seasonality of the given product!
