Slow cooker dishes – Fast and Healthy
Motto «Slow cooker – recipes of new generation» sounds quite justified. Contrary to the popular idea, this appliance does not only fulfill the existing functions like other kitchen machines, the former being a combination of developed tasks. Slow cooker rather has the capacities of the existent appliances but uses them for cooking radically new dishes.
Another crucial factor implies that the quality of food cooked with the help of this appliance is higher compared to common frying or even steaming. Recipes of dishes for slow cooker are unique and the cooking process does not eliminate nutritional value of the products, and does not destroy vitamins they contain, which is not uncommon for other cooking devices.
It should be noted that there is a huge amount of specific recipes for a slow cooker. We offer you a bread recipe for slow cooker.
Ingredients:
- 30 g of yeast;
- 2 teaspoons of salt;
- 1 teaspoon of sugar;
- 1 cup of milk (kefir – fermented dairy, sour milk or water);
- 7-8 cups of flour;
- 50 g of butter (spread or margarine).
Method:
Mix yeast in several spoons of warm milk or water, then add sugar. Leave it for 10 minutes for it to fully dissolve. After that put yeast in a large cup and add milk, kefir or water. If milk and kefir make the mixture too thick, dilute it with some water. At the end you are going to need ½ l of substance.
Pour the mixture into a large pan and add melted butter, salt and 5 cups of flour. Mix it thoroughly to eliminate lumps. Leave the batter (it should look like thick pancake batter), for 20 minutes for it to pluff. Add the rest of flour to the batter and knead it.
After coating the slow cooker with butter, put the batter into the container and set the appliance for 15-minutes warming up. Then turn the slow cooker off for half an hour and set it to baking mode for 45 – 60 minutes.
While baking you will notice that crust is pale while the bottom of the loaf is fully cooked. In this case turn the loaf upside down keeping its inner structure. Leave the bread in slow cooker for another 20-30 minutes in the same mode. After the work cycle finishes, switch the appliance off and wait for 5-10 minutes before taking the loaf out.
