The Day of Food Industry Workers had been yearly celebrated on the third week of October, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 08.08.1995 #714/95. The food industry of Ukraine — is composed of thousands of big, medium and small-sized manufactures of various property types, which produce almost 20 percent of the total volume of manufacturing production. The most part of consummated production — unites beverages, meat and milk products, tobacco goods, bread and bakery goods, fats.

The peculiarity of this branch lies in the issue that the quantity and quality of the products, we evaluate and appreciate every day, depends on diligent hands.

The celebration date of the Day of Food Industry Workers in Ukraine is close to date, proclaimed on 1979, — The World Food Day, which is celebrated on October 16. In 2007, the October 21^st is on the third Monday of October. At the same time it should be noted that the Day of Soviet Food Industry Workers had been also celebrating on the third week of October since 1966. Probably, determining the celebration day, the President of Ukraine considered the old tradition to do honor to professionals in weekends, and the new, for Ukraine, longing to enter the world community.
