History of the Ice Cream

More than three thousand years ago in dwellings of the prosperous Chinese people there was a tradition to treat the guests with cooled desserts from the snow and the ice that were intermixed with fruit juices. Such cooled dishes were the favorite food even of such person as Alexander of Macedon. Among his servants there were even specially trained runners, which were to run to the mountains for the snow and to come back so fast that no show had melted. At the end of ХІІІ century, Venetian pilgrim Marco Polo brought to Spain the receipt of cooled fruit sherbet. Since then, the cooled dessert has won the hearts of Europeans. Desserts from the ice cream have become the favorite delicacies of the precious families, moreover at some courts there were the specialists on ice cream production.

The ice cream receipt was kept in top secret. The courtier cookery experts were to make the vow of mum as concerned all items related to the dessert cooking. Moreover, in time of French Queen Catherine de Medicis the ice cream production receipt at all became the state secret, disclosure of which was chastised by death.

But disregarding the top secrecy, the receipt of cooled dessert has become the common public property. At the date, the ice cream is being produced practically in all countries of the world; moreover, there is the innumerable amount of it varieties. Not far ago, the Germans invented the hot omelet with ginger ice cream filler, the Americans — the ice cream with garlic flavor, while — the Russians — with kvass one. But there are only four sorts of showy dessert that are considered to be the key ones, they are — milky, creamy, plombieres and fruit-berry.
