For already 10 years we have an honest, diligent, honorable, tolerant and professional person, who works on our manufacture, — it is Mikhaylo Yvanovych Kryvoshey. This year, he took a position of the Director on Logistic support and with all responsibility and earnestness took the expansion of his obligations and management sphere. We have decided to have a talk with him and get to know about his professional activity, new position, core principles and priorities in life…

— Mikhaylo Yvanovych, will You, please, tell us how You found yourself in the “Rud” Company. Where Your career had started?

— I came in 1997 to work in our factory, I have called it our, because I really think that people, who are working selflessly on “Zhytomir Dairy Factory” have the right to call it this way. Later we became the “Rud” company, but at that time, it was the formation of the manufacture on the firm “footing” in an unstable economic situation of our state. At that moment, the factory had been drastically developing in all directions, export-import operations was one of them, and I was a specialist in this sphere, working in the customs-brokerage company, and for several years had been carrying out factory’s businesses, but only as a representative of a third-party organization. In 1997 the commercial director and several specialists of sales department had been carrying out the foreign-economic activity, purchase and distribution tasks. For two years, I had been working as a declarant on foreign-economic activity and carried out such tasks as: paper work in customs; cooperation with sanitation-epidemic station, State standard, veterinary service, State quarantine and other licensing systems; control of payment period’s carrying out; contacts with suppliers and customers. With the expansion of manufacture and increase of employees, it was created a commercial department, which I had headed and led on business fields till the end of 2006.

— This year, You have entered the position of the Director on logistic support, being a head of the commercial department for a long time before. Will You tell us, what has changed after Your new appointment? How has expanded Your duties?

— After my appointment on the position of the director on logistic support, I was laid more duties, responsibilities and authority. The service of the director on logistic support is composed of the following services:

  • logistic support department — it deals with manufacture’s provision with all materials, raw materials, packing and spares needed;
  • milk purchasing department — it deals with manufacture’s provision with milk;
  • transportation department — it provides the milk delivery to the factory, distributes the finished products to consumers and supports with cars all additional services;
  • dining-room — it makes delicious dinners for all of us.

As you can see, the number of duties and responsibilities is enormous, and the rhythmic job of our manufacture is supported by the proper interrelationship of the departments, mentioned above. In order to fulfill this kind of work, I was given grave authority for more operational regulation of the given tasks.

— Purchase — is one of the core elements of any industry, and, surely, of ours. Will You tell us the main principles in Your work with suppliers?

— The purchasing process is a rather complicated one, because we have to provide the manufacture with high-quality product that corresponds to all requirements of our production engineers, laboratory and all State supervisory institutions; moreover, the given product must be economically sound to our factory, it is rather difficult to reach such results in our unstable state. It is important to be confident that the supplier will provide you with the product of stable quality, because it happens sometimes that the suppliers, who want to gain the authority, are supplying with the high-quality product at first, but, later on, reasoning from mercantile displays, worsen the quality. The supplier will not abuse the changes in the economic situation and, what is not least among these, will be mobile, I mean, taking into consideration the seasonality of our work and the dependence on weather conditions, will be able to provide us with established delivery of needed product.

— What do You think, what it the best approach method to the supplier, client?

— One needs to have partnership relations with the supplier; it is essential to carry out you obligations, those that are mentioned in the agreements between our manufactures, but those obligations that sound in verbal understanding are more important, and the partner, who is dealing with you, comprehends that you are a “man of his word”.

— One fact is doubtless, that in any kind of work, force-majeurs situations are inevitable. How do You solve these problems or conflicts?

— When extraordinary situations appear, it is important to properly analyze your actions and partners’ actions, long before the force majeurs situations emerge, and to work out a strategy to find the way out of given situation. And one more important rule in our work — is to work with several suppliers of the same raw materials at the same time, in order to liquidate the unexpected situations of one supplier by operative work of the other one.

— Mikhaylo Yvanovych, what are Your methods of staff recruiting to the collective and what principles are guiding You in Your work with personnel? What, at Your opinion, is more effective — “the stick” or the “the carrot”?

— Teams of milk purchasing department, transportation department and dining-room, I took as formed ones, but, because of the situations we had been coming across for many years, our relationships were established and, on my opinion, are great. The formation of the commercial department took a long time to go and was not so easy: someone could not bear the rhythms of work, others have not justified hopes; there were people, who could not stand in the face of the “temptation”, therefore, on their positions we choose people, who had been successfully working in the similar manufactures; our connection with educational institutions stood in good stead, for they were proposing us their best graduates to the positions. People, who are working in our sphere, have to be, first of all, honest, diligent, goal-seeking, and if anything is going wrong in one’s place, but he/she has a desire to finish it, then we will gladly give a hand. I suppose that an effective stimulus for job fulfillment is to behave properly with the employee and fully understand that each man is a personality.

— What is Your secret of success and how can You characterize yourself and Your changes, for, let me say, 5-year span?

— The success can be reached by everyday hard work and faith that if you have a goal in life, you must reach it, but only using honest and truthful ways.

— What are You nearest future plans? What kinds of innovations or changes are You planning to realize?

— For the further successful development of the “Rud” company, it was confirmed the plan of manufacture’s reconstruction and the priori courses of new types of production’s development and the stable position of our traditional products on the market; and my primary task is to apply all efforts, along with the service committed to me, and the close cooperation with all subdivisions, in order to reach the goal set.

— Mikhaylo Yvanovych, what is the primary and the most important in You life?

— The life — is a priceless gift, given to a man, and the most important — is to value each minute and give thanks for the chance to meet the sunset, enjoy the shower in summer, and to find something positive in every situation of life.

— What would You like to wish to everyone?

— Humane good, family cosiness and “faith…”
